We are now offering for sale F.J.A. Hort’s copy of the earliest Greek Testament printed at Oxford, edited by John Fell:

Codicibus, et antiquis versionibus collectae__.  Oxonii, E Theatro Sheldoniano.  1675.  Full leather.  [12], 648, [12]pp.  Darlow & Moule 4711.  The earliest Greek Testament printed at Oxford.  From the personal library of F.J.A. Hort (with his signature on front glued end-paper), then ex-seminary library.  12mo., full leather.  Includes engraved frontispiece, and title page with engraving of the Theatre.  Original leather boards with gilt decorations, slightly scratched but but otherwise in good condition, with nicely repaired corners.   Spine newly re-backed in a fashion contemporary to the original.   Ex-library, but without library stamps.  The library plate was removed by book binder, and is laid in.  Library stamp scraped away from front glued end paper.  Slight adhesive residue remains on ffep.  Small handwritten note in ink indicating editor’s name on title page.  Light to moderate foxing, creasing to upper page corners. $2,502.00  [451307]
